Investigating Unequal Englishes sheds light on the dominance of Anglocentrism and monolingual biases and ideologies, and hegemonic language policies and practices favouring the English language across the world. It highlights the questionable and hierarchical status, role, function, and use of Standard English and the perpetual linguistic inequalities and injustices faced by speakers of different varieties of Englishes. The edited volume rightly argues that only the critical and metalinguistic awareness of policy-makers, ELT administrators, teachers, students, and community members can make them sensitive to individual and collective marginalisation and disempowerment based on languages.
