Jean M Auel is an international phenomenon. With the publication of the first novel in her Earth's Children sequence, in 1980, she achieved unprecedented critical and commercial success and this has continued to the present. Her extensive research has also earned her the respect of many renowned scientists, archaeologists and anthropologists around the globe, culminating in her being made an Officer of the Order of Arts & Letters by the French Minister of Culture and Communication in 2008.
Clan de l'Ours des Cavernes is the first book in Jean M. Auel's best-selling series, Enfants de la Terre. The story is set in pre-historic Europe, over 30,000 years ago, but a story of this magnitude could be set anywhere in anytime. It is about human emotion, relationships that span over race and religion, and self discovery. The research and historical accuracy in this series is staggering, and although many events are exagerated, I found myself learning with every page. - Staff Review by Sara
