Our Favourites For This Month!
Un Jour David Nicholls 'I can imagine you at forty,' she said, a hint of malice in her voice. 'I can picture it right now.' He smiled without opening his eyes. 'Go on then.' 15th July 1988. Emma and Dexter meet for the first time on the night of their graduation. Tomorrow they must go their separate ways. So where will they be on this one day next year? And the year after that? And every year that follows? Twenty years, two people, one day.
"Forget about the movie, the book is the real deal! Simply a perfect novel about love – full of emotions but also very entertaining! Sigh…!"

Je voudrais que quelqu'un m'attende quelque part "Je Voudrais" explores how a life can be changed irrevocably in just one fateful moment. A pregnant mother's plans for the future unravel at the hospital; a travelling salesman learns the consequences of an almost-missed exit on the motorway in the newspaper the next morning; while a perfect date is spoilt by a single act of thoughtlessness. In those crucial moments, Gavalda demonstrates her almost magical skill in conveying love, lust, longing, and loneliness.
"Great short stories by one of my favourite authors! They are stories about love in all its facets: some stories are hopeful, some stories are dark! I loved it! I also recommend this book if you are a learner of French and you would like to build up your vocabulary – short stories are ideal for that!!!" - Staff Review by Melanie |
